Reservations, walk-ins and signature dishes

Understand what a table booking does—and what you may need to arrange separately for a Chinatown dinner.

A table and a dish can be separate arrangements

If you are visiting for a particular preparation, confirm that it will be available and whether it must be requested ahead. A restaurant may have space at a table while a limited dish is unavailable. This is especially worth checking for roast duck, larger banquet meals and special events.

Read the current booking conditions

Before confirming, review party size, deposits, cancellation rules and any fixed menu requirements. Save the confirmation and share the practical details with your group. Policies can change, so an old review or a friend’s previous visit should not override the restaurant’s current booking page.

Walk-ins need a flexible plan

A restaurant that accepts walk-ins may still be full when you arrive. Leave room for a wait or choose a backup nearby. Do not turn a walk-in possibility into a promise to the group. If a specific time matters, use the official reservation channel and verify the name and address carefully.

Make special requests early

Tell the restaurant about party-size changes, seating needs and ingredient requirements while there is time to discuss them. A request sent at the last moment may not be feasible even when staff are trying to help. Chinatown Eats provides research and links; bookings and changes are handled directly by the restaurant.
